Announcements for Easter Sunday, April 16th, 2017

Les Caméléons theatre troupe will be presenting The Nose on Tuesday, April 18th at 7 pm at Salle Albert-Dumouchel in Valleyfield. Tickets $15, and at CVR in Ormstown on Friday, April 28th for a price of $10. Tickets available at the door.

Huntingdon United Spring Luncheon, Thursday, April 20^th, 11 am – 1 pm.

St Columba House is holding its 100^th Anniversary Gala  on Thursday, April 27^th at the Theatre paradoxe, featuring Sylvie Degroseilliers.  Cost is $125 for Supper and Show with a $95 tax receipt provided.  For more info, please check the flyer on the bulletin board. 

Keep in mind Howick United Church will be holding its Spring Luncheon Saturday, April 29^th from 11:30-1pm. 

Howick will be hosting our next combined service, on April 30^th with fellowship time beginning at 10:30 in the hall.  We will be welcoming a guest speaker, Patricia Lisson, the Director of St Columba House in Montreal. 

We have heard from the United Church that they have launched an Extreme Hunger Appeal to respond to the famine in Kenya, Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan, and Yemen.  We are invited to learn more about the situation, to hold the people of these countries in our prayers, and if we can make a donation, we can contribute online through the church’s website: w.united-church.ca; by phone with a credit card at 1-800-268-3781, ext.2738; or by mail with a cheque to The United Church of Canada, philanthropy Unit—Emergency Response, 3250 Bloor St West, suite 300, Toronto, ON, M8X 2Y4.

Unit C of Howick’s UCW will be holding a special meeting with Lexis Beattie and Fred Marika to hear about their work with Heshima, an organization that provides youth in Kenya with education, leadership, sports, and dance while giving back to their community.  The meeting will take place Thursday March 23^rd at 7:30pm.

Doing a Spring Clean and de-clutter?  The Huntingdon Hospital Bazaar (March 31, 2017) is looking for donations. Allyson and Nadine Orr will transport your treasures to the Bazaar for you.

   The Janet McCrory-Tremblay Memorial Achievement Fund seeks to recognize children and youth (up to 18 years of age) that are doing good things for others. Leaders, teachers, coaches and others in a leadership role with youth from the Howick area are invited to submit applications. The deadline is April 1, 2017. Applications can be found on the Howick United Church website: howickunitedchurch.ca

In 2010 Fred Marika and Lexis Beattie founded I AM HESHIMA, an organization that provides youth in Kenya with education, leadership, sports and dance while giving back to their communities.

Everyone is welcome to hear them explain their continued role with the organization on Thursday, March 23 at Howick United Church at 7:30.

Can an artist help Christopher Columbus?  Why does Count Shuvoff like golf?  Who is Alpha One?  The Howick Youth Drama Club shows are Friday, March 17^th at 8pm and Saturday, March 18^th at 2pm and 8pm at the Howick United Church.  Tickets are $5.00, $3.00 for children under 12.  Refreshments after the show.  For tickets contact Carole at 450-829-3887 or nesscarole@gmail.com.  Come and join us and meet the mop specialist!
