Newsletters are now available.  Please take one home, and maybe one for a friend as well. 

November is remembrance month for our Memorial Fund donations.  Donations may be sent or given to Grace Brown.  

Howick UCW will be holding its annual meeting tomorrow, Monday, November 26th at 9:30AM in the hall. 

Georgetown Men’s Breakfast, Dec. 1, 9am-11 am. Guest speaker: Tom Muirhead. Music by Joyful Noize.

Madrigal Choir presents two Mozart Christmas concerts: Dec. 7, 8 pm at St. Luke’s Anglican, Hemmingford and Dec. 8, 8 pm at St. Malachie in Ormstown. Tickets $15. 

The Howden/Templeton bursary application is now available online at the howickunitedchurch.ca website. Members, children and or grandchildren are eligible to apply. The applications must be turned in to Brent Tolhust, Marlene Stuckey or Scott Templeton by Dec. 9 and successful applicants will receive the awards on Christmas Eve.

This afternoon Dr. Suzelle Barrington will be presenting World War I As Seen Through its Memorials at the Chateauguay Valley Historical Society’s Taste of History.  All are welcome to come and hear her presentation at 3pm at the Ormstown Legion at 33 prince Albert St in Ormstown.  

In Howick, the Remembrance Sunday service commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Armistice that ended the First World War, will begin at 10:30am in Howick United Church and will be led by Evie Kerr and Pastor Guy.

There will be a women’s event held on Wednesday, November 28th, beginning at 9:30am at SouthWest United Church at 1445 Clemenceau in Verdun.  The cost for attending and for lunch will be $10 before November 17th and $12 afterwards.  To register, please contact Valerie Nickson at vepps_nickson@hotmail.com or at 514-268-0228 or Janice Knowles at 450-264-3163 or at Pandora @oricom .ca.  For more information and directions, please see the poster on the bulletin board. 

The United Church has launched a special appeal for the Asia-Pacific region, following the earthquake and tsunami there. October 27 at 7 pm -Halloween Costume party at Georgetown Presbyterian church (basement). All are welcome, young and old! Wear a costume, have some fun, and maybe win a prize!

Hymn Sing at Rennie’s United Church on Sunday the 28th of October at 2 pm to benefit the Canadian Food Grains Bank.

Next Sunday Howick United Church will be holding a Soup Luncheon.  A variety of soups, bread, and cheese will be provided and potluck desserts are requested from those planning to attend.  All are welcome to share in this fellowship event. 

There will be a Hymn Sing with the Franklin Ensemble held on Sunday, October 28th at 2pm in the Rockburn Presbyterian Church.  A free will offering will be taken for the Canadian Food Grains Bank. 

On Sunday, November 11th Howick United Church and St Paul’s United Church in Ormstown will be holding special services in recognition of the 100th anniversary of the Armistice ending the First World War.  In Howick the service will begin at 10:30am and Evie Kerr will be leading the service. 
                In Ormstown St Paul’s will be hosting an ecumenical service beginning at 10:45am. Members of St James Anglican Church, St Malachi, Franklin United Church, Rockburn Presbyterian church, the Community of Faith members of the Legion, and other members of the community are invited to participate in this service.  The cenotaph service on Church St will also be held in Ormstown at 1:30pm.

Huntingdon United Church will be holding its Spring Luncheon on Thursday, April 19th from 11:00 to 1:00. 

On Saturday, April 21st we will be celebrating the life of Elizabeth Roy at 2pm in St Paul’s United Church in Ormstown.  There will be no visitation but a reception will follow the service in the hall. 

Howick United Church will host a Spring Salad Luncheon on Saturday, April 28; serving from 11:30 to 1:00. The buffet features assorted salads, meats and homemade desserts. Cost is $12 for adults and $6 for ages 6 to 12. Take-outs available.
Preparations have begun for the Spring Salad Luncheon on April 28.
Waitresses and clean-up shift will be needed; volunteers are appreciated. If you can give some time, please contact Evie.

Sunday, April 29th there will be a combined service for our 3 congregations at 11am in the Franklin United Church.  A fellowship time will be held from 10:30am, upstairs in the sanctuary.  Please plan on coming and sharing worship and community together. 

The time has come to renew or start a subscription to the Observer.  If you would like to receive this excellent magazine at a cost of $25 for the year, please contact Barbara by the end of the month.

Communic-action is seeking volunteers to help elderly people with tasks such as grocery shopping in the Ormstown-Huntingdon communities.  If you are able to help out, please call 450-264-5197.

Les Aidants Naturels are offering a number of workshops and support groups for caregivers and those grieving, also activities such as chair yoga and respite relief.  For more information, check out the newsletter on the bulletin board or see the website w.aidantsnaturelshsl.com.

Today is the day: reports for the annual report are supposed to be in.  If you have a report that is not yet ready, please speak to Barbara or Evie about it. 

The Official Board meeting for Ormstown and Franklin is planned for Tuesday, February 20th at 7:30pm.  All Elders, Stewards, Trustees, and other church officers are invited to attend. 

The annual meeting for Ormstown is planned for Sunday, March 11th during the church service. 

Howick’s annual meeting is planned for Sunday, March 4th following the service.  Please bring a brown bag lunch as well. 

Barbara is planning to be away, February 5th-11th on educational leave.  Evie will be leading the services in Ormstown and Franklin that day. 


Howick  Stewards  will meet on Monday, January 29th in the Church Hall.
